The highlight this week is the buzz throughout the school getting ready for the Fair.
This Saturday at 1pm the school comes alive with the culmination of all the planning and preparation that has happened throughout the last 12 months. Kylie as Fair co-ordinator and her large team of parents have worked tirelessly for this major event. The wristband sales have been extraordinary and if are an indication of success, then this will be hugely successful. The introduction of Fair Dollar Cards will alleviate the need for cash, although stalls will still have facility to receive cash if preferred. An additional 6 EFTPOS terminals should ensure less wait time for patrons. The Silent Auction has received some amazing donations and as of last night 80% of all volunteer slots had been filled. A true community effort to raise funds for the new 3/4 playground equipment.
In our classrooms this week we are working towards the STEM Expo which happens during Education Week and coincides with our Open Afternoon. This year both current and prospective families are invited into the school from 2:30-3:30pm. There will be tours for prospective families and all classrooms will be working on science for the afternoon. In addition, we will open the classrooms from 3:45-5:45pm so as many current families can celebrate the STEM learning that is happening.
We have butterflies hatching; animal habitats and adaptations being explored; experiments with physical sciences; space explorers investigating the relationship between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun; chickens have hatched and their very early behaviours are being observed; liquids, gases and solids are being changed; and the year 6’s are experimenting with energy and materials, collecting and analysing data and using the scientific reporting structure to share their findings. We hope to see you all on Wednesday 15 May for the STEM Expo.
Please see a message below form the Hon Ben Carroll MP, welcoming families to Term 2.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday.
Kind Regards
