The Cebula community is preparing to celebrate National  Boarding Week alongside the 200+ non-government schools around Australia that offer residential facilities to young people from rural and remote locations. The week is aimed at raising awareness about the many benefits of boarding and celebrates the important part our Boarding community plays in the fabric of the College. 

Mazenod is blessed to have the contribution of boys who hail from over 60 different locations across Western Australia. We are home to 86 borders that enjoy a wonderful opportunity to live and learn on campus, develop independence and resilience and form lifelong friendships while living together in a diverse and inclusive community.

While the boys do sometimes face challenges living away from home, they’re all proud to be Mazenod boarders who enjoy the camaraderie and support of their home away from home. National Boarding Week is a great opportunity for the boys to say thank you to the vast networks of support that ensure they all have a positive experience during their boarding journey. From the Boarding staff who look after them to the day parents who help get them to their various sporting games, the saying that it takes a village to raise a child is certainly true in the case of the Cebula Boarding community.

To celebrate National  Boarding Week, we have some special events scheduled which we hope many of the boys will be part of. 

Sunday 12 May

Mass and Supper with St Brigid’s at 6:30 pm.

Monday 13 May

Guess the Baby Photo Competition commences. This event runs all week.

Tuesday 14 May

Cebula House Table Tennis Challenge at 6:00 pm in the Common Room.

Wednesday 15 May

National Boarding Week Dinner and Guest Speaker at 5:30 pm.

Guest Speaker: Dean Munns, Old Boy and former boarder (2008 - 2012), currently the Captain of the West Perth Football Club.

Thursday 16 May

Sausage Sizzle – Quadrangle @ lunchtime.

Invite a teacher to dinner night from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Cebula MasterChef Challenge at 7:00 pm.

Friday 17 May

Firepit and Marshmallows - both campuses.

Friday 17 - Sunday 19 May

Invite a Day Boy to Boarding Weekend.

Saturday 18 May

National Boarding Week Mini Canvas Art Activity to create a mural wall.

Sunday 19 May

Cebula Olympics.
