Fantastic 3/4

Term 4 Week 10
3/4 Newsletter
Welcome to Week 10 of Term 4!
As we come to the end of the school year, the 3/4 team wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful year we have shared together. It has truly been a privilege to teach your children and to be a part of their learning journey. Thank you for your ongoing support, communication and partnership throughout the year. Whether it was helping with homework, attending school events, or simply encouraging your child each morning, your involvement has made a meaningful difference.
Literacy:
To finish off, literacy students have been completing their final tasks focused on persuasive writing and comics. In groups they have worked hard to apply strong persuasive language, clear arguments and supporting reasons in their writing pieces using a topic of their choice that they feel passionately about. Alongside this, students have enjoyed exploring the features of comics, using visual elements, dialogue and creative storytelling to engage their readers. It has been wonderful to see their confidence, imagination and writing skills shine as they finalise their end-of-year Literacy work.
Phonics:
In phonics, students have been exploring a number of different concepts, including Homophones, the effect of the letter ‘wa’ and ‘wha’, usually reading with an /o/ sound as well as ‘war’ and ‘whar’ reading with an ‘or’ sound.
Maths:
Students have completed their final maths assessments for the year. Students have been competing in the potato Olympics which is a fun maths activity where each student chooses a potato to be their “athlete.” Throughout the week, your potato competes in different “events” such as rolling, jumping, throwing, racing and balancing. In each event, you measure, compare and record results using real maths skills. You might measure how far your potato rolls, how much it weighs, how tall it is, or how long it takes to complete a race.
Science
Recently, students have begun creating their Term 4 Science projects. Students will have the freedom to design a poster or a PowerPoint that showcases all the learning that they have done this term. Ranging from food chains and food webs to the impact of humans on different ecosystems; students will use the remaining sessions of Science to create and finally showcase their projects in week 11.
Extra Announcements:
- Classroom KK needs to be brought in by December Monday 15th December
- Big Ride out is Wednesday December 17th
- Children are asked to bring in a plate to share for their classroom party on Thursday 18th December (Nut Free Please).
We would like to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. We hope you enjoy a wonderful break with your loved ones.
Once again, thank you for your support throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready for a fantastic 2026! 🎄✨
