Create Your Italian Food Truck

In Term 4, Italian classes of year 7 received an assessment task, requiring them to create and present a project that encourages them to explore the cultural foods of Italy by bringing them to life!
Students worked in pairs and researched, designed, and built a 3D model food truck based on the themes of breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert - and presenting it as if they were launching the food truck in a real Italian city. Each pair began by selecting a city and explaining why it was the perfect location for their food truck and what made it special. They designed an Italian logo and name for their food truck and explained the meaning behind it and why they named it that. Using a food truck template, students sketched creative themed designs to catch customers' attention. Once the designs were completed, they constructed a 3D model using recycling material including paper, cardboard and of course paint and colours to make it pop! Students also created detailed menus which also included 3 main foods they would sell; this would be made either digitally or by hand featuring foods and drink choices, prices in euros, and images to make it visually appealing.
The project concluded with each pair presenting it in front of their class, showcasing their 3D model and pictures, menu, city choice, while explaining why their concept would succeed (this is all included in the presentation which is in English). Through this experience, students developed valuable skills in teamwork, critical and creative thinking, research and sustainability, while also gaining a deeper appreciation of Italian food and significance in culture. The project highlighted how creativity, culture, and innovation can come together to turn a simple idea into something truly inspiring.
