VR Goggles brings careers to the classroom

Students from Yrs 7 to 10 participated in the School Pathways Program, a national initiative funded by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources and delivered in partnership with Work Window, an Australian company creating immersive tools for career exploration. Through this program students used Virtual Reality (VR) to explore hands-on careers in the defence industry. The program introduces students to the many technical careers that support Australia’s Defence Industry. Students were employed as “Mechatronics Engineers” and simulated the repair of a drone via the VR goggle experience. They unscrewed panels, tested components with a multimeter, changed parts, resembled the unit and tested the drone before placing it back in service. They then explored an engineering company and identified various jobs by navigating through the business and seeing employees in their roles. A highly engaging 3 days!
