Year 9 Commerce State Parliament Excursion

On Wednesday 10 December 2025, 32 students in Year 9 Commerce visited NSW State Parliament with Ms Heng and Ms Truong.
Students have been learning about the topic of Law, Society and Political Involvement. They have learnt about why laws are needed and how they are created and changed through parliamentary processes.
This trip to the State Parliament provided students with an opportunity to further their understanding of the nature and function of law through the examination of the law-making process and legislative institutions.
Students visited the lower house and upper house of parliament. They were involved in role play where 11 students were given pre-written scripts to read. The roles students acted out included the:
- Speaker
- Attorney General
- Shadow Attorney General
- Premier
- Leader of the Opposition
- Government Backbencher
- Opposition backbencher
- President
- Leader of the Government
- Chair of Committees
- Crossbench member.
