Principal's message

As we come to the close of an exciting and productive year, I am proud to reflect on the significant progress our school community has made in 2025. This year has been marked by growth and development, with the unveiling of new, state-of-the-art facilities that provide inspiring spaces designed to foster creativity and collaboration among our students and staff.

In alignment with these upgrades, we have commenced the implementation of our new School Excellence Plan. This strategic roadmap is dedicated to continuously enhancing teaching quality, student wellbeing, and academic outcomes across our school. I am pleased to share some of the key achievements from this important work:

  • Our overall school attendance has increased by 1.5%, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to student engagement and wellbeing.
  • The introduction of our brand-new senior study centre has expanded support for our HSC students. We have engaged additional tutors, many of whom are proud alumni of Cecil Hills High School, to provide expert assistance.
  • Peer Support has been integrated as a core part of our transition program for Year 7 in 2026. Training conducted earlier this term ensures that incoming students will receive valuable guidance and friendship as they embark on their secondary education journey.
  • Explicit literacy, numeracy, and reading lessons have been embedded in Year 7 this year, with plans to extend this program to Year 8 in 2026.
  • We continue to witness exceptional student growth, demonstrated through strong NAPLAN to HSC data, reflecting the effectiveness of our teaching and learning strategies.

Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and hardworking students for making these achievements possible. I look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.

I am also delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students in the 2025 HSC. Notably, Safa Shafquat achieved an equal First in Course for Business Services and a 4th Place in Community and Family Studies, a remarkable accomplishment that highlights Safa’s dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent. Moreover, our school has been recognised as one of the top 20 schools in Sydney for ‘adding value’ to our students’ learning journey, particularly from Year 9 to 12. This distinction reflects the strong academic growth our students experience and is a testament to the effectiveness of our teaching programs and support systems. We congratulate all of our HSC graduates on their success and look forward to their continued achievements.

100 Years of Service

In a new tradition introduced this year, we have begun formally recognising the dedication and long-standing service of our staff to the NSW Department of Education as part of our Presentation Day assemblies. This meaningful gesture acknowledges the commitment and invaluable contributions of those who have devoted many years to enriching the lives of our students and strengthening our school community.

It is with great pride that I presented Certificates of Service this year to Ms Michelle Low and Ms Ragani Mudaliar for 20 years of service each, and to Mrs Christine Lord and Mrs Julia Cremin for 30 years each. Together, these outstanding support staff and educators represent a remarkable 100 years of service to public education.

Uniform and Equipment List

To assist families in preparing for the year ahead, our 2026 Equipment List is now available to help guide the purchase of essential items for students. This list, along with our uniform requirements—including guidelines to support families in purchasing appropriate school shoes—is included within our 2026 Student Information Handbook. The handbook can be easily accessed on our school website, providing convenient and comprehensive information for families as they plan for the new school year. We encourage all families to review the booklet early to ensure students are well-prepared and appropriately equipped for a successful start to 2026.

Community Satisfaction Survey

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we kindly ask all parents and carers to complete our Community Satisfaction Survey. This survey provides an important opportunity for parents and carers to share their thoughts and feedback about their experiences with our school. Your input is invaluable in helping us understand what we are doing well and where we can grow to better support our students and families. We encourage all parents and carers to take a few moments to complete the survey, as your voice plays a vital role in shaping the future of our school community.

Farewell and thank you

We would like to take this opportunity to farewell Mr Joshua Dunn, our relieving Head Teacher of Wellbeing and PE teacher. We sincerely thank Joshua for his valuable service to our school community and wish him all the best as he takes up his well-deserved promotion at Erina High School.

Additionally, we extend our heartfelt farewell to Mrs Slavica Galic in recognition of her long-standing commitment, dedication, and care for our students over many years as part of our English faculty. We are deeply grateful for the positive impact she has made and wish her every success in her future endeavours.

Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and hardworking students for making 2025 a year of remarkable achievement. I look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a joyful and prosperous New Year!
