Performing Arts

The Broadley Performing Arts Centre has already been abuzz with rehearsals, auditions and performances.
Auditions have now been completed for our Chamber ensembles on both campuses and rehearsals are now underway. It was encouraging to see so many students step out with confidence to undertake these auditions.
Our large ensembles have commenced rehearsing, preparing for Open Day, with our choirs, concert bands and string orchestras once again having record numbers of participants. The word is out… music making and performing with other students of all ages is fun!
The Secondary School Production, Newsies, is now rehearsing regularly and the cast are committed to learning songs, choreography and lines. Stay tuned for details on ticket sales. The Junior School is eagerly awaiting the announcement of their production… no hints for the Year 6s!
Leah C (9.10) kicked off our School at Work performances with a sparkling rendition of the flute solo Allegro non Troppo. In the school holidays, Lincoln J (9.12) graduated from The National Boys Choir and was featured as a soloist in his final performances. He was also selected once again to perform at the televised Carols in the Domain.
Our Instrumental Programs have commenced at Year 2 (Strings), Year 5 (Brass, Woodwind, Percussion) and Year 7 (Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Strings). The Year 6 and Year 7 Band programs have also continued, with these groups already making some excellent sounds. The students in Years 5 & 7 have been very excited to receive their instruments and start to make a variety of noises and pitches.
We are looking forward to sharing a year of music, drama and dance with everyone!
