Message from the

Principal

Dear Families,

Sad News

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Monsignor Frank Marriott, who died peacefully on 11 November after a long battle with prostate cancer. Surrounded by family and members of the Sandhurst clergy, Monsignor Frank faced the end of his earthly journey with deep faith and serenity.

Ordained in 1962, Monsignor Frank served the Diocese of Sandhurst with exceptional dedication throughout his 63 years of priesthood. His ministry included appointments across many parishes, later leading to roles as Parish Priest, Cathedral Administrator, Diocesan Administrator, and Vicar General. His outstanding service was recognised in 2012 when Pope Benedict XVI appointed him a Protonotary Apostolic, the highest rank of Monsignor, and again in 2022 when he received the Medal of the Order of Australia.

Monsignor Frank’s contributions extended far beyond parish life. He championed youth ministry through the Young Christian Workers movement, supported married couples through Teams of Our Lady, and cared deeply for clergy welfare, helping establish the Priests Retirement Foundation. A strong advocate for social justice and community harmony, he was a leader in environmental advocacy and interfaith dialogue. He was also a pioneer in Catholic education, promoting lay leadership in schools.

Monsignor Frank leaves a powerful legacy of faith, service, and compassion—a true giant of our Diocese.

Thank You

As we approach the end of the school year, it is a timely opportunity to thank the many people who make our school great by contributing their time and energy.

School Advisory Council

Thank you to the School Advisory Council for their ongoing support of our school and, in particular, to the leadership of St Therese’s. A special thank you to Michael Carney for his leadership in this space and to each member who attends our meetings, shares their wisdom, and contributes wholeheartedly to the continued improvement of our school.

We also extend our gratitude to Amanda Abley, who will conclude her time on the S.A.C. this year, as well as her time at St Therese’s, with Reid (her youngest) heading off to secondary school.

I look forward to another great year in 2026.

St Therese’s Community Collective

The work of this small but mighty group is nothing short of amazing. Over the past three years, we have been able to replace both aging playgrounds and complete the landscaping at the Lowndes Street entrance to the school.

The energy, time, and commitment extend beyond the executive group of this committee and include every family that has donated goods, money, time, and energy to support our major events.

Thank you for all you do. Please know that your efforts benefit every child.

Please note the schoolyard is unsupervised before 8:30 am. There are still many, many children on the grounds prior to this time.

For the safety of your children, I am asking that they are not dropped off at school before 8:30 am.
