School News Update

School Updates
We're pleased to share a range of updates from across the school.
Our Year 3 students had a fantastic time at camp on Philip Island, with plenty of sunshine, teamwork and new experiences.
We also congratulate all students who took part in our dance performances last week. Their confidence and enthusiasm shone on stage.
As we look ahead to 2026, we wanted to let families know that while we won't be continuing with the externally provided Footsteps program, dance will remain an important part of our Performing Arts and Physical Education curriculum.
We're also excited to announce that STEM will become a year-round specialist subject from 2026, supporting hands-on learning in science and technology, which will complement and further enhance our units of inquiry.
Congratulations to our Year 5 students, who confidently presented their action at the Respect and Connect Youth Forum at Roberts McCubbin Primary School this week. Their thoughtful contributions and mature representation of our school were truly commendable.
Finally, over the past few weeks, School Council has been working through a formal tender process to select an out of school hours care provider for our school community. Over the coming weeks, we will provide families with further details about this, and what this means for 2026.
Stepping Up Day - Tuesday 9 December
On Tuesday 9 December, all students will take part in our Stepping Up Day. This is a chance for students to spend time in their 2026 classrooms, meet teachers, and get a feel for the year ahead.
We’re looking forward to a positive and exciting morning (9am -12pm) for all students.
Year 6 students and students who are leaving ASPS can attend school and will be supervised by our Prep teachers.

Policies in the Spotlight : Mobile Phones
Our Mobile Phones Policy outlines how students can bring and use mobile phones or smart devices at school. If a student brings a device, it must be switched off and securely stored during the school day, including recess, lunch, excursions and camps. This helps minimise distractions, protect privacy, and support a safe and focused learning environment.
Exceptions can be approved by the Principal or classroom teacher in specific circumstances, such as for health needs, wellbeing reasons, or risk-management during travel. When an exception is granted, use is limited to what is necessary and does not include internet or social media access.
Families are reminded that devices are brought to school at the owner’s risk, and the school provides secure storage options. This policy has recently been reviewed as part of our documentation for our upcoming School Review.
You can read the full policy on our school website.
Reminder: Kiss & Go Zone
A reminder that the 'Kiss & Go' zone outside the school in Burgess Street is for quick drop offs and pick ups.
It is not a parking area, so please refrain from parking for longer than 5 minutes in this zone.
This allows all families & students to benefit from this zone.
This area is regularly patrolled by Boroondara parking inspectors who will enforce the signed rules.
Thank you for your cooperation.
