CHRISTMAS BOOK TREE

It's beginning to look like Christmas...

Thankyou to the library leaders who have done a wonderful job on this year's Christmas book tree. We are very grateful for your exuberance in every task you have been asked to participate in this year.

THANKYOU

Thankyou to all the library helpers this year, both adult and Yr 6 Library Leaders. Our library is a large piece of real estate within our school environment and cannot operate efficiently without assistance from these wonderful individuals.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

Certificates have been issued. This year a record number of 65 gold (4 times completion) and 29 platinum certificates only to Yr 6 students (7 times completion) were issued. Congratulations to each and every student.

Thankyou parents for supporting your child in their reading journey by supplying them with, and reminding them to bring their library bag to school on a regular basis.

From the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge

"Thank you for a wonderful year of reading!"

STORIES COME TO LIFE

This year a number of our indigenous students had their art work featured in the text "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy". Student art was partnered with a story written by indigenous authors. Clyde from Yr 2 had his work partnered with "Evy and The Cheeky Willie Wagtail" by Cheyenne Enright a proud Waanyi woman. After sharing this story with a number of classes, Emily from 3W came to the library the next day with a willie wagtail nest which had fallen out of the tree.  Thankyou Emily for sharing this with us and helping make a real life connection to our reading.

Thankyou to Mr French for facilitating this wonderful opportunity for our students.

LIBRARY BAGS

Please note a LIBRARY BAG is the first item on your child's equipment list for the year.

Thank you for ensuring your child has a library bag. I have some spares and will issue these to students next week who have not yet presented with a bag.

LIBRARY BAGS MATTER...  Not just some of the time but all of the time.

No food or drink on my books.

Food and drink are for the chooks.

Library bags keep ‘em clean.

Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.

Bring your bag every time.

Fill it up and get in line.

Have it scanned and scoot on out.

LIBRARY BAGS

We all shout.

When students visit the library a huge emphasis is placed on the

premise that they have

 C H O I C E

in what they can read and borrow.

WORLD BOOK ONLINE

Ask your child about the bookmark which provides home access for World eBooks and World Book online.

If you have not logged on and had a browse around, sit down with your child and ask them about it. I'm sure all primary-aged students will be able to show you some of the features.
