My favorite part about Canberra was the Australian Royal Mint. I enjoyed how we got to design our own coin, see how coins were made and were given the opportunity to mint a coin in the gift shop and buy a souvenir. Izzy
In my opinion the best part of Canberra was visiting Questacon, the AIS and the War Memorial. Then ending off an amazing trip with an awesome Disco Party. Thanks Teachers and Parents!! Cleo

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion. This funding was already factored into the initial cost to parents.
Year 6 Memories 2025
ST NICHOLAS SCHOOL CHESS COMPETITION
The St Nicholas School competition has now concluded. Many matches were played with stalemates and replays a plenty. Through it all students were well mannered and respectful of their opponent. Lessons learnt included: take your time, be patient, don't rush the other player, once you take your fingers off the piece the move is over.
Thankyou to the Yr 6 students who offered their expertise as judges over the term.
Yesterday Mr V came to officiate the grand final between Aron from Yr 6, and Hudson from Yr 5. It was a thoughtful game with each player showing deep concentration and consideration in each move. Congratulations to Aron the eventual victor. Thankyou to Mr V for joining us, see you same time next year. Mr V also stayed to play a few games with the students and imparted some handy tips.
NSW PRIMARY SCHOOL CHESS COMPETITION
In term 2 twenty students travelled to East Tamworth Primary School to compete in the North West Primary Schools Chess Competition. One team was the overall winner consisting of Will Gardiner, Yaksh Kapatia, Rex Sedon and Alex Bijnens awarding them the title of Tamworth Zone Champions. Pictured with a trophy for each player and one for the school.
