School Council - End of an Era

Each year, we acknowledge service to School Council and departing members.

This year, I have received notification from parent members Teagan McLennan and Ange Ricketson that they will not seek re-election. In addition, School Council President, Sian Jamison, will conclude her time on Council with her youngest daughter graduating this year.

Thank you, Teagan, for your contributions to Council since 2024. Your insights and advocacy of the school have been greatly appreciated. I invite you to re-nominate in future years.

To Ange, well done and thank you for all you have contributed to Council since 2019. Notably, you will forever be acknowledged as the influencing member on Council to have the school painted! Your commitment to Council, particularly as Vice President, has been highly valued.

And now to Sian. To appropriately acknowledge all you have contributed to School Council - your leadership of our community, and the collaborative partnerships you have developed, particularly with Business Manager Angela Stevens and me - a single paragraph will not do it justice. Having begun on Council in 2016 and as President since 2019, you have overseen a significant period of evolution for our school. This has included changes to the school’s student and family demographic, expansion of our culture and vision, enhancements to facilities, and supporting personnel changes. You are admired universally. In saying that, your personable disposition somewhat masks the true strength of your leadership. In your own calm way, you stand up for what is right and, where you are unsure, your inquisitive nature has helped support the school, and individuals, to move in the appropriate direction. Thank you for your time and energy and, on a personal level, for your trust.

I invite families to join me in celebrating Sian, Angela and Tegan at our end-of-year assembly, next Friday 11:45 am. Further, I invite interested parties to consider joining the School Council next year. Information on nominations will be posted in the new year.

Well done CHAPs

Last week it brought me great pleasure to share with our Parents' Association, CHAPs, that they have raised in excess of $50K for the school this year!

This is a tremendous achievement given our appreciation of CHAPs is first and foremost their endeavours to connect the community.

As well as our major facilities project of 2026, the installation of cricket nets next to the netball courts, we look forward to putting the funds towards the student-led projects that include the Senior School table renovations and Year 4 garden renovation.

Thank you CHAPs!

Proposed Changes to Parking on Campaspe Drive

As many are aware, the school is in regular communication with Maroondah Council regarding traffic flow and parking around the school. Early last year, changes were made to add an additional drop-off zone out the front of the school. Upon reflection, whilst the idea was sound, it has been acknowledged that it is not the safest place for students to be dropped off. Given that, a new proposal has been accepted by Maroondah Council. They will be consulting with local residents in the coming month. It is hoped that the change, moving the drop-off zone further north, near Entrance C, will provide a safer Kiss and Go option for families.
