Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:

Respectful Relationships

This week in Grade 1/2, Rodda we have been discussing ‘What is Fair Play?’

Students were able to describe how the rules of the game help people play in a fair way.

Students were able to explain how being unfair can lead to people getting hurt or upset.

Grade 1/2 Rodda worked in partners or small groups to play games. The students established rules for each game making sure everyone knew what was expected and how to play FAIR.

Then we stopped and discussed the following questions:

What does Fair Look like?

Student’s responses:

Kind Words

Laughter

Fun

Taking Turns

What did you have to do to make the game work?                                    Student’s responses:

Working together

Taking Turns

Play by the Rules

Should Everyone be expected to play by the rules, regardless of gender?

Student’s responses:

Yes, everyone should be equal

Everyone should follow the same rules to make it fair

Our students have voted, and the whole-school rewards for this term have been decided:

  • Level 1 Reward: Doughnut Day
  • Level 2 Reward: Slime the Principals

We are currently sitting at 18 jigsaw pieces, which means we need 12 more to reach Level 1. Keep showing those school values - every piece gets us closer to doughnuts!

In the 3/4 area, students have been working hard to demonstrate our School Values and have been rewarded with Gugu stickers. Many fun individual and whole-class rewards have been achieved and celebrated. A highlight lately has been Lunch with the Principal, which has become a very popular reward.
