Character Strengths
In the classroom students have been exploring their character strengths. Character strengths are positive parts of our personality that impacts the way we think, feel and behave. Students have completed a survey to identify their top character strengths.
Why is it important for students to learn about their top character strengths?
Feel confident and engaged in learning
Build stronger relationships with peers and adults
Handle challenges and setbacks with resilience
Develop a positive sense of self and purpose
By helping students notice and use what’s right with them — rather than focusing only on weaknesses — we’re fostering a classroom culture of encouragement, growth, and mutual respect.
How can families support children’s Character Strengths at home?
Notice and name your child’s strengths. Example: “I really loved the way you persevered with your homework”.
Talk about your own strengths, share how you use them at work or in daily life.
Ask reflective questions, “what strength did you use today?”
Encourage strength sporting in others. Recognising strengths in those around us
