R U Ok Day

This year, R U OK? Day is on Thursday 11 September. It emphasises that every day is the right day to ask ‘are you okay’? This day can also be a difficult day for families who have lost someone due to mental health challenges.

You can follow these conversation steps to show people they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are okay, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

The student Wellbeing Leaders are busy planning a week of wellbeing activities for Term 4 - so watch this space for further news!

Support for families affected by mental health is available through national helplines like Lifeline Australia (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue (1300 224 636), which offer 24/7 crisis support and information for anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention. The Carer Gateway (1800 422 737) provides support for carers, while Headspace and Kids Helpline offer services for young people.

Nudel Kart

Toorak PS is now the proud owner of a Nudel Kart. Starting Friday 12th September students will be able to come into the hall and use their 'nudel' to let their imaginations run free. From building large-scale structures like castles, robots, and cubby houses, to setting up imaginative role-play stations and designing obstacle courses for active play. The skies the limit and I look forward to sharing photographs of the students' creations in coming newsletters.

I would once again like to thank the families who generously donated to the Wellbeing Fund which has enabled us to purchase this wonderful resource.
