Head of Year 11 & 12 News
Mrs Jacinta Kruger
Last Friday, over 110 of our students made their way to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre as a reward for being on Levels 1 and 2. Whilst it may have been a little too long spent shopping for some, we’ve heard from many students that they had a fantastic day out. Our students represented Toogoolawah SHS with pride, their behaviour was excellent and they made the most of the experience.
Despite an earlier than expected departure, everyone had a marvellous time and enjoyed the chance to celebrate their efforts. A huge thank you to Ms Masters, Mr Nielsen, Mrs Bergin and Mrs O’Farrell for accompanying us on the trip, and also to Mr Moloney for his efficient and excellent organisation of the day.
Our Year 12 students are now on their final straight home. With just 11 weeks to go until their Graduation and Formal, this is the time of year when motivation can start to dip. We are encouraging all students to rise to the challenge, dig deep and maintain the positive momentum they have demonstrated throughout their schooling journey.
All Year 12s are now working through their final pieces of assessment – their last ever! With less than 100 days to go, the finish line is well and truly in sight. Many students (and parents) have already started asking about Graduation and Formal details. Invitations for both events are currently in production and will hopefully be ready by the end of the term.
To confirm, Graduation will be held on Thursday 20 November, followed by the Leaving Parade on Friday 21 November, and the Formal also on Friday 21 November. Exciting times ahead!
Year 11 students are already preparing to take on their role as the leaders of Toogoolawah SHS in 2026. Senior Jersey and Senior Shirt designs are well underway, and discussions around possible Formal venues have also begun. This is an exciting time as students begin to look ahead to their final year.
I have also encouraged Year 11 to start thinking about their Formal fundraising. If you have ideas to share, please encourage your student to bring them forward – together we can work to raise some much-needed funds. Many hands make light work, and the more involvement we have, the more successful their fundraising efforts will be.
On that note, our students have been given a wonderful opportunity to assist at the Somerset Mayor’s Ball on Saturday 13 September. They will be helping with serving and cleaning tables, which is not only a great way to give back to the community but also a potential fundraising opportunity. If your student is able to lend a hand, it would be fantastic to see them involved.
