Parents- we will need some assistance with timekeeping on the day. Please do not drop your swimmer and leave. Timekeeping is the best seat in the house and is very easy to do. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
If this is your first time racing, your swimmer will need to know how to marshal for their events.
Marshalling - Your swimmer is responsible for attending the marshalling area ready to swim when requested. Usually, a marshalling request will come up on the screen if available at venue. It will say something like “marshalling to event 12”.
Event - The stroke and distance your child is swimming at an allocated time.
Heat - Most events have more than 1 heat, usually, but not always, running from slowest to fastest times. Those with no recorded times, NT will usually swim in the first heat/s.
Lane - Most meets run with either 8 or 10 lanes open, each swimmer is allocated a lane to ensure the correct time is recorded for their individual swim. All swimmers are responsible for checking they are in the correct lane.
But don't worry our club captains and senior swimmers will be there to help our new swimmers.
To make things easier for your swimmer we suggest writing their events on their arm with a permanent marker/sharpie
Example, you have booked your child to swim in the following events.
Go to the program, look up these events, find your child’s name and write down the following information: Event, Heat and Lane.
It will look something like this…
50 Free E2 H3 L4
50 Back E8 H2 L1
50 Breast E12 H1 L6 ⇐ This is what you can choose to write on arm.
We look forward to seeing you there on Sunday. Good Luck!
