Religious Education & Pastoral Care

Mrs Trish Mitchell

Assistant Principal & Religious Education Coordinator

Dear God,

You have called Fr Sabu to serve as a shepherd to your people.

We give thanks for his time with us, for his guidance, his wisdom, and his gentle spirit.

As he embarks on this new chapter, we ask that you bless him with strength, courage, and a heart full of joy.

May he continue to be a faithful servant, bringing your light to those he meets. Guide his path and fill him with your Holy Spirit, so that he may always be a beacon of your love.

We entrust him to your loving care.

Thank you & farewell Fr Sabu

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr Sabu for his faithful and dedicated contribution to our school community. We have been blessed by his presence, and we are so thankful for his commitment to our students and staff.

Fr Sabu has been a regular and cherished visitor to our classrooms, always finding time to connect with our students and share his faith in a way that is both engaging and inspiring. We are grateful for his beautiful Masses, which have brought our school together in worship and reflection, we are truly appreciative of his spiritual guidance.

We will miss you, Fr Sabu, and we wish you every blessing in your new role in the Maitland/Newcastle Diocese. Please know that you and your new parish family will be in our prayers.

Confirmation

On Saturday, 23rd of August, we celebrated with Jorja Gardner, Ava Howell and Cameron Faint as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Nicholas Church. Congratulations Jorja, Ava & Cameron.

Yr 6 RE Test

Last week, our Yr 6 students sat the Religious Education Test. This important test is a reflection of their knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and the curriculum they have studied throughout their primary schooling.

Parish Mass Times

Please join our Parish to celebrate the Eucharist. Our Parish offers three Mass times every weekend.

Saturday - 5:30pm

Sunday - 9:00am and 5:00pm

Online Safety

An alarming number of students are continuing to access and use Facebook and Instagram. We ask that you monitor your child's social media usage and follow the age recommendations stipulated by the Australian Government.

Think twice before posting:

Photos and videos are fun to share but they can be misused by others.

Ask yourself:

• Would I show this photo to a teacher or family member?

• Would I be okay if this photo was shared with strangers?

• Does this photo show something private or embarrassing?

Healthy Screen Habits

Screens are a big part of our lives. We use them for school, games, social media, and fun. But spending too much time on screens can affect your sleep, mood, and health. Healthy screen habits help your body and brain feel their best.

Too much screen time can cause:

• Tired eyes and headaches

• Trouble falling asleep

• Less time for outdoor play and exercise

• Feeling stressed or moody

• Difficulty focusing on schoolwork

• Less time with family and friends

Create a screen plan

Ask your family to help you set a screen time plan.

Decide together:

• How many hours of screen time you can have each day

• When it is screen-free time (such as during meals and bedtime)

• What types of apps and games are okay to use

Yours in Faith,

Trish Mitchell
