Parish Update

Father Chinua is moving on from the combined parish of St Francis Xavier and St John's. He has served our parish for over eight years.

In his place, Father Jude will assume the Parish Priest role, and Father Michael Maronga will take on the role of Assistant Parish Priest. We wish them all the best in their new roles and look forward to working with them.

Today we farewelled Father Chinua at Mass. We will miss him!

Prayer and Pyjama Night

We invite all of the families of our students in Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 to the Prayer and Pyjama night next Wednesday.

During the evening, families will be participating in some special activities together around the Jubilee Year theme 'Pilgrims of Hope'.

St Augustine's Feast Day

On Thursday, we celebrated the Feast Day of our Patron Saint, Augustine of Hippo. We continued this with our mass today.

Some of our Grade 5 students have been working on a very special project about St Augustine. We were contacted by Andrew Chinn to create an artwork and a short biography of St Augustine for him to use in an upcoming project of his own. Lexi has been putting her artistic skills to the test, painting a portrait, and Hazel, Sienne and Veronica have collaborated to write the biography.

Here is their work;

St Augustine of Hippo

St. Augustine was born on the 13th of November 345 AD.  Even though his mother tried to bring him up as a Christian, Augustine was pagan like his father, Patricus. When he was young, he lived a sinful life. He stole and was very wasteful, but soon the guilt of his choices took over him. No matter what he did, his mother always prayed for him to convert.

When he was older, he moved to Milan and became a professor. One day, he went to listen to Bishop Ambrose. After this, he reflected on his choices and life. In 386 AD, he converted to Christianity, becoming a priest and the Bishop of Hippo. He was one of the most important church writers, and in 397, he wrote his famous autobiography, ‘Confessions’.

He is the patron saint of printers, theologians and brewers. His feast day is on the 28th of August.

Parish Unity is Hope Festival

Last Sunday, we took part in the Parish 'Unity is Hope' Festival. Our students joined forces with students from the other parish schools to sing two hymns during Communion.

Thanks to all families who attended and all our amazing singers!
