Congratulations!
The Girls Intermediate AFL team competed at EMR Finals a few weeks ago. The team showed resilience and determination during interschool sports. With each game, we saw their teamwork, communication, and confidence on the field grow stronger. The day started with two tough matches against Koonung and Ringwood, but the girls didn’t let the early losses shake their spirit. In the final game, all their hard work paid off with a well-deserved win against Doncaster. A huge congratulations to all the players for their persistence and sportsmanship. And a big shoutout to our “team dad” Jason for cheering the girls on, offering encouragement, and keeping everyone hydrated and energized with plenty of snacks!
The Monash Division Junior interschool Sports round robin was a great success on Thursday 21st of August. We had over 10 teams of year 7 and 8 students representing the College in the sports of Basketball and Table tennis. A big congratulations to all students for their participation and enthusiasm on the day and an even bigger congratulations to the following teams who made it through to EMR finals:
Table Tennis: Year 7 Girls, Year 7 Boys and Year 8 Girls
Basketball: Year 7 Girls, Year 7 Boys and Year 8 Boys
A massive thank you to our staff and student coaches who volunteered their time to run training sessions and attend on the day, not to mention behind the scenes organisation. Without our coaches, the sports wouldn’t go ahead so we are extremely grateful for their support of the sports program.

YEAR 8 BOYS BASKETBALL SHOWTIME!
Congrats to our A team who went through to Eastern Zone finals after achieving two big wins and one narrow loss. As did another school, we went through with a superior points differential / percentage which was exciting. Although many players delievered MVP and "gun teammate" moments, overall MVP was captain Alfie Mitchell who lit it up offensively and played equally as well at the defensive end. Dawouf El-Khub was best team player setting screens for teammates, playing great defence and grabbing many rebounds.
B team also won 2, lost one and played with great spirit. Best team player was captain Bassem Ali who was strong in all facets of the game providing great leadership. MVP was Ragesh Ravichandran who skills lit up the floor and played a key role in our winning record. However many players could've been considered for those accolades. Special thanks to student coaches of year 9 Angus Chua, Andrew Plompton and Devan Godse.
Both teams are to be commended for their sportsmanship and commitment and we wish them all the best on and off the court for the future.
Year 8 Boys Table Tennis
Brentwood was proudly represented at the Monash Division Junior Sports Day, with both our Year 8 boys teams showing fantastic sportsmanship, competitiveness and steady improvement across the day.
A special thank you to Ashwin Gururaj, our student coach, who motivated the boys, led warm-ups, and provided strategies and tactics that inspired the team to play at their best.
The Brentwood A Team performed strongly in their pool matches, winning two and losing one to finish second and qualify for the grand final against South Oakleigh A. Earlier in the day South Oakleigh A had defeated us 4–2, but the grand final was a much closer contest. Determined to improve, our boys pushed every singles and doubles match to longer rallies and tighter scores. While South Oakleigh claimed the win, Brentwood cut their winning margin by 30 points – an excellent achievement and testament to the team’s resilience.
The Brentwood B Team also impressed, winning two of their pool matches to qualify for the 3rd/4th place playoff. They had already beaten South Oakleigh B 4–2 earlier in the day, but in another close battle during finals, South Oakleigh came out on top, with Brentwood finishing 4th overall.
A Team – Jeremy Kong, Beckett Dwyer, Krishiv Gupta, Abir Singh, Nirvan Raeisi
B Team – Pratham Sharma, Louis Ha, Ethan Tran, Ashton Swe
Congratulations again to both teams for their effort, improvement, and teamwork throughout the day – a brilliant representation of Brentwood spirit!

Congratulations Emma Timms!
A huge congratulations to Emma Timms (Year 10) for her selection in the Victorian 2026 17/under squad selection top 50!. Emma has represented Brentwood in netball, swimming and athletics over the past few years and we are incredibly proud of her hard work and dedication to be the very best netballer she can be. Emma plays GS and is known for her accurate shooting, strong leadership skills and athleticism on the netball court.
Not only is Emma a talented netball player, but she has also had a wonderful impact on our Brentwood sport program as a netball coach. Emma is an incredibly kind and caring person and we are so proud of the athlete and person she has become!
We wish you the very best for the upcoming selection trials!
Well done Emma!

PE Footwear Reminder
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This is a reminder that students should be wearing appropriate footwear to PE classes. Students should be wearing sports runners with adequate grip on the bottom of their shoes. PE classes are completed on a wide range of surfaces including, but not limited to, gym floor, asphalt and grass, also in a variety of weather conditions.
Shoes should be worn that allow students to participate safely across all terrain. PE staff make decisions on a daily basis, whether it is safe to complete classes, students need to wear shoes that are appropriate for all scenarios. If shoes are deemed inappropriate, students may be unable to participate. Students should not be wearing street or lifestyle runners to class as these shoes do not provide adequate grip and support.
Please see below images for shoes that are appropriate for PE classes and those that are not appropriate for PE classes.
Kind regards,

PE uniform reminders:
Below are some PE uniform reminders:
- Years 7 – 9 may wear their PE uniform all day on days in which they have PE. This is made known to students by having GYM1, GYM2, GYM3 etc. for their “room” location. On days where students have Health, they are required to be in their academic uniform.
- Year 10 students may only wear PE uniform if they are completing either PE elective (Enhanced PE or Sports Science) on the days their teacher has selected for them to complete their practical classes for the week. Students will be given uniform pass cards from their teacher which will list what days these practical classes are on. Students are to carry these card at all times. If a student is in PE uniform on a day that a practical class is not on or cannot present their card then they will receive a uniform chronicle.
- Year 11 and 12 students are to change into and out of their PE uniforms for periods that they have a practical class. If students have PE in period 1 they are allowed to come to school in their PE uniform and will change at the end of this period. If students have PE in period 5 they will need to change at lunch time and are permitted to leave school in their PE uniforms. If students have practical classes in period 2, 3 or 4 then they must be changing in and out of their uniforms during that classtime. If a year 11 or year 12 student comes to class in their PE uniform and they do not have a practical class in that period then they will receive a uniform chronicle.

Competition Sports Uniform
With interschool sport competitions, some teams must wear sports tops with numbers and special-coloured sports socks. Brentwood provides these tops and socks. However, sometimes students wear these tops/socks home instead of handing them back to the teacher in charge at the end of the day. So, as you spring clean or change your bedroom layout during the term break, keep an eye out for any missing Brentwood Sport Specialised team uniforms. So, drop them off to the main office or the PE staffroom when you return. No questions asked!
We are hoping for Brentwood AFL jumpers, Soccer/Hockey/Volleyball/Basketball numbered tops, and navy long socks to be found and returned!
