Wellbeing, Community, and Living Our Catholic Social Teachings
At our school, we know that well-being is nurtured not only through caring for ourselves, but also through caring for others. Our Catholic Social Teachings guide us to recognise the dignity of every person, to act with compassion, and to work together for the common good. When students have opportunities to live out these values, their sense of belonging and well-being grows stronger.
Today’s Pyjama Day was a wonderful example of this connection. While we all enjoyed a hot chocolate and the comfort of our dressing gowns today, it also carried a deeper purpose—raising awareness and support for those in our community who face food insecurity. Through the Malvern Food Drive, our children are learning that small actions, such as donating a food item, can have a big impact on the lives of others.
By engaging in activities like today’s, students not only build empathy but also begin to see how faith and community are closely linked. They discover that well-being is not just about feeling good individually, but about ensuring that everyone in our community has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you to all families who contributed to today’s initiative. Together, we are helping our children live out the call to care for others and to put Catholic Social Teachings into action in the everyday life of our school and wider community.
Quotes from the Students - What have you enjoyed about today?
Bridget - I have loved being warm and cozy today, enjoyed my hot chocolate and seeing so many 'oodies'. But most of all, we are so proud of everyone in supporting the cause and seeing how much food we have collected for our community. I am so happy that we have organised this event and hope that it will continue in the future.
Lilli - I enjoyed designing my own pyjamas.
Lucas - When we got hot chocolates.
Mary - When we learned about why we we have Pajama day and helping people.
Lucy - I just love being able to wear my pyjamas to school.
