From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to our final newsletter for Term 3. It has been an incredibly busy and productive term, filled with significant milestones and wonderful achievements. As we approach the end of the term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the events that have shaped the past few months and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.
Reflecting on the Year 12 Journey
This term has been a poignant one as we prepare to farewell our Year 12 students. I had the privilege of meeting with the cohort to gather their feedback on their educational journey at Brigidine College. Their insights were invaluable and will help us continue to improve the learning experience for future students. We also celebrated their incredible talents during the marking of their HSC Drama, Design and Technology, and Music major works. The quality of their work was truly outstanding and a testament to their creativity and perseverance.
We recently held the Year 12 Reflection Day, a time for quiet contemplation before the final rush of exams. Now, as the term concludes, we look forward to the Graduation Assembly and Formal, where we will formally farewell this remarkable group of young women. Their time at Brigidine has been a joy to witness, and we wish them all the best for their upcoming HSC exams and future endeavours.
Celebrating Student Achievements
Our students continue to excel across a wide range of fields. It was a great honour to see Michelle Mansour receive the prestigious Archbishop's Award, recognising her exceptional commitment to her faith and community.
In the creative and performing arts, we were all captivated by the talent on display at the Creative and Performing Arts Night. We also had the exciting opportunity to have Channel 7 visit and film a news item about our very own band, 'Hour Language,' made up of four talented Year 11 students. Their new song, "Purple Lady," is a huge hit, and we are so proud of their success.
In sport, two of our Oztag teams were runner-up in the State Schools Championships! A huge congratulations to Nessa Lynch, Eden Field, Charlie Mitchell, Charlize Elder, Aoife Connolly, Caitlyn Burke, Jazmine Ballard, and Zara Dilger for making the representative merit team at the end of the carnival.
Community & College Life
Term 3 was packed with community events that brought us all closer. The Father's Day Breakfast was a wonderful success and incredibly well-attended, a great way to celebrate the important male figures in our students' lives. We also took time to acknowledge R U OK? Day, reminding us all of the importance of checking in on one another.
Our Year 9 and 10 students showcased their entrepreneurial spirit at the annual Market Day, where their innovative products and business ideas were on full display. The entire student body from Year 7-10 came together to celebrate Midday Mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, a beautiful opportunity for us to reflect as a community.
On the academic front, interim reports for Years 7-10 have been distributed, providing valuable feedback for our students and their families. Year 11 exams have also been successfully completed, marking an important step in their senior journey. Finally, we have elected our 2025/2026 Student Leadership Team, and I have every confidence that they will lead our school with grace and integrity.
Thank you to parents for completing the communication survey. We are collating the results and will report back early next term.
The library study hasn’t been as popular as first thought but will reopen for study from week 2 Term 4 Monday 20th October until Wednesday 19th November from 3.15-4.45pm. Please encourage your daughters to attend.
Other student news
Congratulations to Emma Hammann who finished an outstanding fourth in the world championship for powerlifting which included a bronze medal.
As we draw to the end of Term 3 as a college we are still formulating our New Teaching and Learning Framework. This framework will guide our teaching and learning at the College and will reflect contemporary education as a basis for guiding the young women students of our College. The staff spent a recent Tuesday afternoon looking at survey results from the year and analysed our NAPLAN data in particular growth of students in their classes.
Staff news
I would also like to take the opportunity to farewell Ms Kismet Koromhez. Kismet is an outstanding Visual arts teacher who has resigned and will move forward in other areas outside of teaching. The staff and students gave Ms Koromhez a nice farewell last week and we wish her the best in her future. I am sure we will see her back here soon enough. Congratulations to Ms Rebecca Bartos who welcomed a baby boy Carlos into the world in the month of August. Mum and baby are doing well and enjoying time with the rest of their family. Ms Lauren Madeleine is covering Ms Bartos in marketing while she is on Maternity leave. We also wish Mr Martin a good break while he takes leave for term 4. If you have any questions for year 7 and 8 HSIE please see Ms Chaloner, Years9 and 10 please see Mr Mellsop and if year 11 and 12 please see Ms Foote.
Enjoy the time with your daughter/s over the school holidays and a reminder that Monday 13th October is a flexible learning day as well as online Year 7-10 parent teacher interviews from 9:00am-5.00pm.
Thank you to everyone for your hard work and support this term. I hope you all have a safe and restful holiday break.
