Father’s Day Breakfast and Mass

Tomorrow morning, we invite all dads, grandfathers, and special male role models to join us for our annual Father’s Day Breakfast, starting at 8:00am. The staff of St. Francis of the Fields will be cooking up a delicious breakfast to celebrate the occasion. If you have a little time to spare, it’s a wonderful event to be part of. Coffee will also be available for purchase from Storm Coffees.

Following the breakfast, at 9:15am, our Year 4–6 students will honour their fathers, grandfathers, and male role models with a special Father’s Day Mass. We warmly welcome all who are able to attend. Fr Henry will be leading the celebration.

We look forward to sharing this meaningful morning with our school community.

Bendigo Winter Night Shelter

Last week marked our final meal preparation for the Bendigo Winter Night Shelter this season. We would like to sincerely thank all the students who generously gave their time and effort to support this important initiative.

A special thank you to Mrs Exell and Mrs Zealley, who supported the students throughout the cooking process. Their help was greatly appreciated.

We look forward to being part of this wonderful program again next year, continuing our commitment to caring for those in need within our community.

Sporting Teams Colours Day

The last day of the term, Friday 19th September is our Sporting teams Colours Day. This is an event where we invite students to wear their favourite sporting team colours. It could be AFL, netball, basketball, soccer or many others.

This is a fundraiser for the Opening Doors Foundation. The Foundation is a First Nations run grass-roots organisation which supports First Nations students across Victoria to attend the school of their choice with all necessary supplies.   they also support the costs of formative school experiences such as camps and excursions. It is the only First Nations organisation that supports a child throughout their entire 13-year educational journey.

We are asking for a donation via CDF Pay just the same way as lunch orders and other fundraisers we have completed this year.

Season of Creation – A Time to Reflect and Renew

September marks the beginning of the Season of Creation, a special time in the Church’s calendar when we are invited to reflect on the beauty of the natural world and our responsibility to care for it. It is a season of prayer, action, and renewal — a chance to deepen our connection with God through the gift of creation.

As stewards of the Earth, we are called to protect and nurture all that God has made. From the smallest insect to the tallest tree, every part of creation reveals something of God’s love and creativity. This month, we encourage our school community to take time to appreciate the wonders around us — the fresh air, the changing seasons, the life in our gardens and parks — and to consider how we can live more sustainably and compassionately.

Whether it’s reducing waste, planting something new, or simply spending time in nature, every small action makes a difference. Let us come together in gratitude and care, honouring the Earth as a sacred gift and committing ourselves to its protection.

May this Season of Creation inspire us all to walk gently on the Earth and to live in harmony with all living things.
