Principal Report

Oatlands from My Point of View

Term 3 at Oatlands Primary School has been a great success. We have had so many special events across the term, including many dress up days, 100 days of school celebrations, book week activities, author visits, year level excursions, swimming lessons, cooking competitions, athletics events, the Oatlympics, Father’s Day breakfast and the school disco. The student’s participation in these events and activities was fantastic and everyone seems to enjoy them thoroughly. A huge thanks to our staff and the parent volunteers for all the extra work and time dedicated to organising things and helping. It is well worth it when you see the smiles, and greatly appreciated.

While these days are a great fun for our entire school community, one of the most impressive things to observe here at Oatlands is the wonderful balance our students have between having fun and focussing on their learning. When I visit classrooms, I am always so impressed to see such focused and engaged students. Even when we are enjoying many of these special occasions, our students and staff have a great ability to shift their mindset and regulate their emotions to ensure that learning opportunities are not missed.

Father’s Day Breakfast

This term we held our traditional Father’s Day Breakfast. We had a sensational turn out once again with the gym packed with dads, uncles, grandparents and father figures all there to listen to our guest speaker, Lehmo.

Lehmo spoke about being a dad and the importance of being present in your child’s life. He also shared a few funny and extremely relatable stories about his childhood and his relationship with his dad.

After some valuable time with our visitors in classrooms helping to complete a variety of hands-on activities, we finished off the morning, back in the gym with an egg and bacon muffin and a cuppa. Thank you to all our staff for the work they did to make the morning a success and thanks to the Oatlands community for supporting the event with your attendance.
