3/4 News

Maths Hoops
Over the last couple of weeks, students have battled it out versing each other in a round robin basketball tournament while practising their maths skills. 3/4's have been using all four operations while comparing player statistics to see if they can make a steal, foul, fast break or shot to win the play.
Athletics
We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine for our Athletics Day. It was great to see out 3/4 students showing great sportsmanship and resilience with each event.
Congratulations to the following age champs for 3/4:
Grade 3 Age Champs Tex & Marley
Grade 4 Age Champs Alby & Ella
Inquiry Showcase
This week we were able to celebrate the hard work and knowledge that the 3/4's have developed through our Inquiry unit on Social Justice - Someone Else's Shoes.
Over the course of the term, students have discovered what the word disability means, researched a disability/the Paralympics/Paralympian/Paralympic Event, created a narrative about a character with a disability who reaches a goal, listened to guest speakers, discussed what makes a rule or law fair, voted as part of a democracy and created their own community based around a chosen set of values.
It has been a very busy term, but it has been lovely to see students build on their understanding and compassion to become positive advocates for people with a disability in our community. Well done 3/4's!
The Wild Robot Movie Session
Last Term 3/4's read the novel 'The Wild Robot'. We all loved the book and have eagerly been waiting for the movie to be released!
This term we also had 3 separate novel study groups where we read: Esio Trot, The One & Only Ivan and Storm Boy. We were lucky enough to finish these books and watch the movie for each. 3/4's were able to compare the book to the movie and noticed the many details that were missing from the movie! Mrs Holloway & Mrs Cardillo will be choosing new books for us to study next term!
Dillmac Performances
Congratulations to our 3/4 students Cailey and Alby who had their first music performance on Monday night. We had Cailey singing to Pink's song 'Try' and Alby on guitar playing 'Smoke on the water' and 'Pumped up kicks'. Both were so brave and performed fantastically! Great job to Benny, Chett and Jonty who performed on the night too!
General Reminders
Camp - Next term we will be heading to Torrumbarry for our 3/4 camp. Please check Compass for further details and to complete payment for your child.
Just a reminder that at our school we do not tolerate swearing. If a child is heard swearing they will be asked to phone home and explain the reason for the call.
Have a safe holiday everyone! Looking forward to seeing you all return for our last term together for 2024.
