What a big Term at TPS

I know I say it every term, but this certainly felt like a huge term of learning and great opportunities for our students. I hope everyone has the chance to have a break, recharge the batteries and get ready for a huge final term of 2024.

Term Highlights

It was highlight after highlight this term, as we:

  • took part in the Boys to the Bush program for our Grade 6 boys.
  • kept visiting GTS to assist with the running of the business on Thursday mornings.
  • took part in Jeans for Genes day and raised money for childhood disease.
  • competed in the Girls football carnival in Moama.
  • visited the Kindergarten, the Cottage and Country Kidz.
  • continued to serve lunches at the Senior Citizens Club, including at their large birthday lunch.
  • kept visiting the Aged Care facility to spend time with the residents.
  • competed in the Regional Netball tournament in Swan Hill.
  • took part in the Waranga Athletics carnival in Swan Hill, where we celebrated 4 age champions and had 12 students qualify for the division stage in Bendigo.
  • celebrated Book Week, with our parade and a range of different activities throughout the week, including a performance at St.Pats.
  • opened our Indigenous Sensory Garden with a special welcome to country and smoking ceremony.
  • had our Grade 2 students attend the Kyabram Italian Club to play Bocce and eat traditional Italian food, as part of their Inquiry Studies.
  • listened to guest speakers in Grade 3/4 as part of their inclusive unit of work.
  • celebrated Fathers Day with our annual sausage sizzle and games afternoon.
  • travelled to Pioneer Settlement for the year 2 camp.
  • had our Grade 6 girls participate in a Girls Empowerment program over 5 weeks, learning self-defence skills and building their relationships.
  • had a special visit from Harley Reid to say thank you for our support of him over his first AFL season.
  • held our House Athletics Sports and officially opened the Peter Tinning oval.
  • acknowledged R U OK day with a raft of fun activities.
  • attended the movies to watch Wild Robot and Runt, which have both been novels we have been reading in class.
  • celebrated the end of term with Footy Colours Day and a special Hot Dog lunch.

We are looking forward to what is always a fantastic Term 4, with camps, sporting events, great excursions and end of year activities to look forward to.

School Saving Bonus

As part of the Victorian Government Education State model, all families will be part of the new School Saving Bonus Initiative from 2025.

The School Saving Bonus initiative is a one-off payment of $400 per child to be used towards supporting your child's education. 

Families can choose how they spend the School Saving Bonus. It can be used towards 2025 school costs, which may include:

  • camps, trips, excursions and incursions
  • swimming and sporting programs
  • school uniforms

The School Saving Bonus will be emailed directly to parents and carers in November 2024. Therefore, it is essential that the school has your correct email address on your child's enrolment. If you need to change this, please speak to the school.

House Athletics

Once again our House Athletics were a huge success. The day began with the official opening of the Peter Tinning oval, with all students, staff, parents and most importantly Pete's family in attendance.

The weather was fantastic, the competition was red-hot and the results were outstanding. Congratulations to all the students for their amazing sportsmanship and participation and to our staff ,particularly Mrs Young, who made the day run so smoothly.

Winning house on the day was Finlay.
