School Council Report

Just a quick update from our school council meeting on Wednesday 13th November.

Heading to 2025

Planning for 2025 has already begun!

Our Enrolment numbers for next year are looking positive with the whole school numbers climbing by 14 students.

The school is also working on further strengthening our explicit instruction and structured literacy approaches.

Our Community Mural

The mural has now been completed and look amazing. QR codes will be displayed near the mural explaining what the different elements mean.  An extended assembly will be held on Friday 22nd November starting at 2:30 PM to celebrate our new mural.

Fundraising Focus

Thank you to those who volunteered at the Bunnings BBQ it was a great success. We raised over $2000!!!!

We are holding a sausage sizzle at the up and coming Kilsyth Festival and we are still seeking parent volunteers for this. A roster is available through the Sentral Parent Portal under links.

These fundraising events allow KPS to purchase items and run programs that the school may not have the budget for. The schools allocated cash budget has to cover grounds and maintenance, utilities, student resources, and relief teachers just to name a few. So in the past we have used fundraising towards replacing the Junior Playground, the purchase of class sets of Ipads, upgrading the library fitout, and the purchase of science and technology equipment.

We would also love to see some new parent volunteers for Breakfast Club . Everything is set up the day before so volunteering on the day just really entails serving Breakfast and tidying up. There is always someone there who knows what to do and where stuff is, so a helping hand is always available. Volunteers arrive just after 8 am. The students love breakfast club and it would be disappointing to see it not run due to a lack of volunteers. You will need a working with children check. If you would like to volunteer this is also available on the Parent Portal under links.

Although we aren’t using the volunteer app for gardening club, this runs Monday mornings after drop off and you are invited just to show up. It normally runs for and hour. Some of the tasks include mulching, weeding, planting and planning. It’s a great opportunity to meet new parents, enjoy the fresh air and garden!! Especially now it appears Spring is well and truly here.

If you have any queries or suggestions you would like raised at school council you can contact any of the parent members listed below or send an email to kilsyth.ps@education.vic.gov.au and your item can be added to the general business section for discussion.
