Learning & Teaching

Professional Development and Planning: Inquiry/Discovery Closure Day.

On Monday, October 7th, we had a Closure Day dedicated to Inquiry/Discovery learning, facilitated by the team from Traces, Teaching and Learning consultants. The day began by using clay as a tool to explore key concepts around how children think, learn, grow, and thrive. Through hands-on engagement with clay, staff explored effective strategies for promoting and capturing student voice in their inquiry teaching. This encounter also provided an opportunity to reflect on how children’s thinking and processes can be captured and used to create a "learning wall" that tracks and supports their inquiry projects throughout the term.

In addition, staff worked collaboratively in teams to design rich, interdisciplinary units for our 2025 Inquiry/Discovery projects, delving into the Humanities, General Capabilities, and Design Technology & Media. The day finished with teaching teams collaborating on their Term 4 History units, setting up immersive experiences and concept encounters to inspire and engage children upon their return to school. It was a valuable day of professional learning and creative collaboration, with a strong focus on supporting and enhancing our children’s inquiry learning.
