Royal Show Scarecrow

Miss Jaimie Morley

We have been working really hard this term to create a scarecrow to enter into the Royal Show. This year's theme was to portray agriculture in nursery rhymes and children's stories. We spent lots of time collaborating together during Maths, Technology and Integration to brainstorm, design, measure and create our Clumsy Scarecrow.

We learned that we could add to each other's ideas to improve our initial ideas and that the first few ideas are not always the best. As we continued to collaborate, we ended with a creative and unique idea! Our Clumsy Scarecrow was busy reading a nursery rhyme book whilst trying to scare the crows away. Unfortunately, he tripped and fell down a hill, dropping his book and ending with the nursery rhymes escaping. We have included multiple nursery rhymes for you to find.

Our Scarecrow will be on display at the Perth Royal Show in the Animal Nursery and Scarecrow warehouse for the whole of the show. We would love for you to stop past to have a look. There are over 85 schools who have registered and we are excited that we are one of them! See if you can find Burrendah's Scarecrow and take a photo with it.

We are grateful to all of the staff and parents who supported us with this project including helping us to find materials, expand on our ideas and put it together.
