KINDER GARDENS UPGRADE
This week our Grade 5/6 students worked with their Kinder buddies to give all our Kinden area garden beds an upgrade. The students carried in lots of fresh soil and helped to plant flowers, herbs, veggie seedlings and lots of strawberry plants.
We then mulched all the new gardens with sugar can mulch and market signs to identify all our new plants. We then gave the new gardens a really good water. We are really looking forward to watching our new plants grow.
OTHER PROJECTS
In other classes we have been planting our own veggie seeds so that we’ll have plenty on new plants to add to our garden next term. We have planted tomato, silverbeet, pumpkin, peas, beans, corn and sunflower seeds.
OUR NEW MARKET GARDEN
Early next term we will be creating our new market garden behind Emmaus. We will be growing lots of veggies and herbs to use in our school lunch program. Earlier this year, our school received a Keep Australia Beautiful Grant of $1000 to help us establish this garden.
VOLUNTEER THANKS
Special thanks to grandparents, Stan Andrewartha and Wendy Atkinson who have volunteered their help with our garden projects this term. We are very grateful for their support.
