Dear Parents and Friends,

Father's Day Breakfast

What a fantastic turn out we had for our Father's Day Breakfast! 80 dads and 120 children! Well done to all the mum helpers who cooked and prepared croissants, ham and cheese toasties, quiches, muffins and yogurts. Thanks to Mel, Amy, Fiona, Sharon, Megan, Margeaux, and Jess for creating such a lovely atmosphere for the dads to sit down, relax and chat with other dads!

District Athletics Carnival

Our Athletics team competed in the District Athletics on Tuesday. As always our students represented St Brigid’s to the best of their ability. They always try their hardest, encourage each other and are respectful to students, staff and parents from not only our community but other schools participating.

Results - Overall St Brigid’s came 9th out of the 11 schools and in the Handicap (score based on the number of students we have) we came 2nd.

Huge congratulations to the Isla S for coming 2nd in the 9/10yr 1500m and Triple jump, Eva G for coming 2nd in the 9/10yr Hurdles and Oliver W for coming 2nd in the 9/10yr age Discus. These students will compete at Division Athletics on Friday 11th October.

Also congratulations to Jess L who came 3rd in the 9/10yr Long Jump, Harry Hr for coming 3rd in the 12/13yr Discus, Christina H for coming 3rd in the 11yr Triple Jump and Louise R for coming 3rd in the 11yr Shot Put.

Year 4 Camp

There were many excited faces (and maybe some nervous ones!), as the Year 4’s got on the bus to go to camp at Peninsula Outdoor Camp in Merricks this morning. They had a great start to the camp and I am sure they will sleep well tonight!

YEAR 6 - PRESENTATION AT MORDIALLOC COLLEGE

We are working with Mordialloc College, as part of their Year 10 unit of work focused on entrepreneurship at the college. The Year 10's are completing a project called $20 Boss. As part of this project the Year 10 students are to create, market and sell a product or experience. Any profit the students make will be donated to a charity.

St Brigid's requested the charity be COTS (Christmas on the Streets), a not for profit charity based in Melbourne, supporting the homeless. COTS is an organisation that our Year 6 students are particularly passionate about after hearing Roseanne Rafaael speak at the Year 5 Spirit Filled night last year. We are taking a group of Year 6 students to Mordialloc College to present about COTS at their Year 10 assembly.

St Brigid's Art Show

Our Art Show is fast approaching - Save the Date - Wednesday 9th October. The Art Show this year will feature a range of artworks, including painting, collage, mosaic and sculpture. There will be a chance to vote for your favourite dog to receive the ‘Best in Show’ award. There will be a class auction piece which has been created with the classroom teachers. So many exciting things to view and more information to come! Tickets available from tomorrow via CDFpay - children 12 and under - free.

Right to Disconnect

Just a reminder with the new Right to Disconnect legislation that has come into effect last week, as a school we have put in place that staff will access emails between 8.00am - 5.00pm and will endeavour to respond to emails within 24-48 hours. This has been in place for 12 months since the new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement was implemented.

MACSSIS Survey

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) are asking parents, staff and students to complete a survey to gather data about where the school is doing well and what the school can do to improve. This information helps us to make decisions around how to best cater for the needs of the children at school in relation to their learning and social and emotional wellbeing. Please take the time to complete the survey.

On Monday, parents received, via email with a code to access the MACSSIS Survey. Our teaching staff completed the survey on Wednesday and the Year 4 - 6 will complete it next week.

Uniform

I have noticed recently that the standards in our uniform has dropped, so this is a reminder of our high expectations when it comes to wearing our school uniform. Please ensure only blue or black hair ties, headbands and ribbons are worn - I am seeing a variety of colours in hair at the moment. No jewellery is to be worn except studs or sleepers or a small cross for a necklace (this is an OH&S concern). Navy socks are to be worn with our summer and winter uniform and white socks (no logos) for the sports uniform. I am also seeing runners being worn daily by some students. Runners are only to be worn on sport lesson days or for the Year 5/6 students when they are practising for Interschool Sports.

We take pride in our uniform and we need to wear it with pride. Thank you to all parents who support this occurring.

Student's Not Returning in 2025

We are coming to the time of the year when we have to start forward planning for 2024. If you are not returning to St Brigid’s next year (excluding Year 6) can you please notify me at Wendy Sullivan as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.

Enrolments for 2025 and 2026

We still have some Principal tours coming up - the next one is Thursday 15th August so if you know of anyone who is still thinking about schools please let them know about the tour! If the dates do not suit please contact the office to arrange a different time.

Condolences

Our prayerful sympathy is extended to the Daly/Connolly Family on the passing of Fiona and Kate's precious Mother and Ava, Luke and Tess' Grandmother - Patrica Daly on Sunday.

I fly like an eagle, but am more like a dove.
