Understanding the power of young people in shaping democracy

On Thursday, a group of year 12 students and I had the opportunity to attend an engaging after school talk at Preston High where we got to listen to Federal MP for Cooper, Ged Kearney speak. It was an insightful experience, as Ged discussed what we could do to make sure our voice was heard when we can vote, we also listened to other speakers, including Professor Andrew Scott, Will Stracke and Olivia Baldwin. After the presentation, we were given a chance to ask questions, which led to some thought-provoking discussions. The day ended on a high note with a lively BBQ, where we enjoyed good food and great company, reflecting on the interesting conversation we had just experienced. It was a fantastic blend of learning and socializing that made for a memorable day.
