Congratulations to our wonderful U11 Netball team who, last Saturday, came away with sparkling trophies to celebrate their fantastic season of Netball. In a tightly contested game that went into two periods of extra time, in the end the Officials called it a draw, despite our being one goal ahead. These girls have been magnificent all season and along with their proud parents and perfectly behaved furry friends, are relieved, and grateful for the opportunities they have had. All associated with the Team are united in praise of their coach, our very own Mrs Sue Grigg. Her knowledge of the game, her tactics, her challenge for each girl to raise the bar that little bit higher, makes us all so proud.
As we near the end of another huge term, there have been many other wonderful moments.
Last Thursday we celebrated Fathers’ Day with a great group of Dads… a photo gallery is a far better way of sharing the evening…
And this time of the year allows our Junior School students to show their public speaking skills. We delighted in hearing from our Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students whose deft skills at the microphone were clearly on display. Public speaking is a real skill, an art form, however, one that we try to provide to all our students, across the School. When added to the stage, and in front of hundreds of students, teachers, and proud parents, it really is a huge task. So sincere congratulations to our class winners.
Finally, in this wrap-up of recent events, we had a marvellous HSC Dance Showcase last week. Presenting their finished works to the appreciative audience, these accelerated Year 11 students showed grace and poise together with their younger Dance students who performed works the HSC course calls to be choreographed. The Junior Dance Company, Intermediate Jazz Company and Intermediate Lyrical Company also performed; we know we have wonderful dancers coming through the years to ensure Pittwater House remains a force with this art form, long into the future. Our Year 12 Drama students showed their talent too. With their group performances, the 7 HSC students showed force, creativity and great stage presence to us.
Congratulations to all these Dance and Drama students and every good wish in your written exams. Naturally the students took their time on stage, to acknowledge their teachers with kind words and deep affection for the support, guidance and many, many hours of working together to perfect performance.
Our Year 11 students are currently writing their final Preliminary Course papers, with the exam timetable running across two weeks of intensity. All too soon, they will become the Class of 2025, with all that their final year of schooling asks.
Whilst all these events are taking place, our School continues its daily cycle of challenge, support and community engagement. Part of that community is you, our parent body, working and standing alongside your children. My sincere thanks to you all.
May the final fortnight of Term 3 continue in this spirit.
