Gippsland Athletics
Last Tuesday 10th September, we had 22 of our very talented students travel to Newborough to compete against Gippsland’s finest athletes. In their quest to qualify for the State Championships or alternatively, enjoying a day in the sunshine, the team gave it their best effort. Similarly to the Olympics, we had a greater number of girls competing, 13 girls compared to 9 boys. The competition was exciting with everyone pushing themselves throughout the day.
Our school is very proud of all results - a total of 18 medals won that looked fantastic being worn by many of our students, including 7 First Place medals. Three students made it through to state finals in the 1500m, Long Jump, Discus, 100m, Shot Put, High Jump and Triple Jump. This next competition will take place on October 21st at Albert Park Athletics Track, and we wish Patrick, Lewis and Kaden good luck and enjoy the challenge that awaits you.
A special thanks to the students who helped Bodey control the Triple Jump Pit during the day. It was one of the smoothest run activities and wouldn’t have been possible without your help.
