VTAC and CAREERS
VTAC Application close 30th September. Please see careers or the hub if you have any questions regarding SEAS application and statement of support.
VCE unscored and VM students need to have a careers meeting to discuss pathways and ask Angela to sign their forms.
GRADUATION
Student have learning tasks on Compass to complete - 'Then and Now' photo, submit Prep photo, Year 7 photo and a Graduation spiel. Due at the end of term.
HAT and TIE DAY - 24th October
Students to dress in school uniform with a crazy hat and tie. There will also be a whole school assembly.
CELEBRATION DAY - 25th October
Fun day of paintballing, games, lunch and awards. See Compass for more information.
Students dressed up in lots of fun outfits. There was a doctor, vet, nurse, police officer, cricketer, safari tour guide, builders, chef and lots more.
The Year 11 Business Management classes and the Year 9 Enterprising People group held a successful market day at the school on Tuesday 10th September. Groups of students planned and organised stalls selling milkshakes, spiders, egg and bacon rolls, cookies, fudge pops, mars bar slice, cake pops, chicken burgers, sausages, honey joys, brownies, Guess the M&M’s, ice cream sundaes, coconut balls, frogs in ponds and pancakes.
Each group developed business and interpersonal skills of planning, budgeting, marketing and working together, and were proud to have their products sold to hundreds of happy customers- the students and staff of the school. We even successfully managed to run a pre-sale for staff and students which was a big success too! Overall, there was $1,724 taken in sales, with all profits going to charity.
Students from the Year 11 Biology class exploring the swamp and collecting samples to analyse the population dynamics of different species. Good fun in the chest-high waders!

Two groups of senior students recently had the opportunity to gain qualifications in the Hospitality and Construction Industries, over 4 days.
25 students gained their First Aid, RSA, Food Safety/Café Skills and Barista Introduction.
20 students gained their First Aid and Traffic Control qualification, which was a 2 day course.
The trainers were all from Melbourne and commented on the positive behaviour of our students. Well done to all for upholding our school values of Respect, Resilience and Responsibility.
On Tuesday 10th September we took 5 students to the Bairnsdale Police Station for a tour and to discuss career opportunities in the industry. Students got to hear from staff about various roles and gained an understanding of the workings of a police station, the roles within the department and the recruitment process.
Year 10 Textiles Technology students made an Identity hoodie, involving screen printing, hand embroidery and applique.
The students made Potato pancakes with maple bacon.
Ngooloo students Tahnee, Kayla and Chelsey preparing for their mock job interviews. The students attended a mock job interview with two GELLEN staff members. The students overcame a lot of nerves, presented well and received excellent feedback from the panel.
Study sessions on Wednesday and Thursday after school continue to be popular. Students are welcome to stay back after school and study with the help of many teachers available.
Study sessions take place in the Malgobila LRC on a Wednesday and Thursday from 3.15 pm to 5.00 pm. All students from all year levels are welcome to attend.
All Current Year 11 students will have a study camp program in Term 4. The dates are 13th to 15th November at Camp Coolamatong. All details and permission are on Compass. There is no cost for the camp.
