School Council Report
This week's School Council meeting was quite targeted.
The Facilities Subcommittee discussed arrangements for the Official Opening of the Library and Sensory Garden tomorrow, as well as the date and focus for the next Working Bee in October. There were quite a few different ideas put forward as to what we might look to address next.
The Education Subcommittee reviewed the Bullying Prevention Policy, updating both the language as well as some of the tools/approaches used. Establishing and maintaining a good, clear culture is just as important as having a robust process in place.
We also discussed preparation for the School Review next year - although it occurs every 4 years, there is a significant amount of review and analysis conducted in the lead-up as well. The school will conduct various surveys and focus group work as part of this.
Also on the agenda was looking at feedback relating to the recent Canberra Camp for the Grade 5/6s. We will perform a similar review of the other camps also, and I am hopeful that we will get a similarly strong response (ie. a large number of responses, and overwhelmingly positive as well). The effort and support by the staff and parents to make our program such a success is very much appreciated, and sets the scene for encouragement and development of the children across all year levels.
School Council also discussed the imminent introduction of TheirCare, as per previous newsletter articles, and made a point of recognising the excellent work performed over a long period by our PA group, which is in the process of cycling over a number of roles - please be open to being involved if you can, it's a great way to connect and there is a fantastic legacy there to continue, as well as substantial collateral for different roles.
The July and August Financial reports were ratified too, before we discussed a handful of items under General Business. A reminder to you all that we welcome attendees, if you have an interest in coming or topic that you'd like to raise, please feel welcome to discuss it with a School Councillor or come in person! :]
I hope you all have a great break and look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 4 shortly.
Best Regards,
Kynan Yep
School Council President
