Mazenod ACC A Division Athletics 2024

On Wednesday 11 September, Mazenod competed in the A Division ACC Athletics Carnival at the State Athletics Centre. After months of preparation, the team was hoping to improve on last year's 5th-position finish and challenge for the Overall Boy's Shield. The team knew the competition was going to be intense given the quality of athletes from the other schools competing at the top level in the ACC.Ā

It was a perfect day with sunny conditions, the team had an amazing day on the track and field with many boys achieving PBs and amazing results all day. The team headed into the final relay, leading in the Overall Boy's Shield, 8 points ahead of Sacred Heart College. However, the team finished the day in 2nd place overall in the boyā€™s competition, with Sacred Heart winning the Boy's Shield by a mere 2 points!

Ā

Despite the heartbreaking loss the students had an amazing day and should be very proud of their achievements. I would like to congratulate the whole squad for their commitment and dedication over the term and at training. A big thanks to team coach Tim Blake and to the staff coaches who had all the athletes very well prepared for their events.
