Wellbeing and Positive Education.
Mr Campbell
What an amazing term 2 we have had at CESC, the term has been filled with events both large and small that have allowed our students and staff to unite and connect and it's been such a beautiful thing to witness. From Harmony Day celebrations to our athletics carnival, year 12 movie nights and our student leadership conference and workshops I couldn't be any prouder of the way our college has celebrated diversity, cultural respect and promoting the wellbeing of all members of our college community.
STRIVE - Positive Education at CESC:
In semester two our college wide positive education program will be rolled out to all students across all year levels. We have been working on our STRIVE program for the past 8 months in preparation for the roll out and we are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to combine traditional academic teaching practices with educational opportunities that will help to develop the whole student, building their resilience, wellbeing, empathy, courage, self belief and connection. STRIVE aims to empower students to become the best version of themselves so that they can flourish in life and deal with the stressors that it will no doubt deliver along ones journey. STRIVE isn't about paving the road ahead for our students, it's about preparing our students to be able pave their own road in life and be successful.
Part of the STRIVE program will include student journals, within these journals are QR codes that will connect parents and families to our 'Community Connectors', this is our way of connecting families with the work we are doing in classrooms, I encourage all of you to scan the codes and give the community connectors a go at home with your kids, if you can develop weekly practices that support yours and your child's mental health and wellbeing we will have far greater success in achieving our vision for STRIVE.
Another key component of our positive education program at the college is our schools partnership with The Resilience Project and the REACH Foundation. Both programs are embedded into our school practices with our students in years 7 and 9 completing weekly activities in their classes surrounding the principles of gratitude, empathy and miindfulness. As part of our partnership our parents have access to the TRP parent and carer hub, please use the link below to access the hub, once again I encourage you all to watch some of the content and try to embed the GEM principles into your lives at home to further support your families mental health and wellbeing.

The wellbeing team would like to wish everyone a safe and restful holiday period. Surround yourselves with your favourite people, connect as a family and create memories together. We can't wait to continue to support your children throughout the rest of the year, if you have any concerns or are worried about your child please don't hesitate to contact the wellbeing team at the college to make a referral.
