The SEED Program
During Monday and Friday lunchtimes, the SEED Program is fortunate to be able to offer play opportunities for many of our students. Through the use of bricks and construction materials, loose parts, chalk drawing and games the children are able to engage with their peers to develop their critical and creative thinking skills, problem solving, team work, sharing, turn taking, empathy and resilience. To support the children in their play, I follow their lead and help them to develop these skills through the language of play.
Play in this way strives to empower the children and foster independence. As children learn to play it can be a natural reset for their minds and bodies, allowing them to be calm and regulated and ready to face the remainder of the day. Play holds magical qualities for the children, it is special to be a part of their play and witness the wonder and possibility in which they view the world.
Here are some photos from the program, we hope you enjoy!
