VCE
In what seems like the blink of an eye, our Year 11 students have almost completed their first semester as senior students of St Mary’s College. We have seen some amazing work coming from all areas, including beautiful creative pieces from the Art Making and Exhibiting students, some creative cooking and business ideas from the VM students and some insightful writing in the English assessment tasks the students have been completing.
This term, I have been meeting with the Year 11’s to discuss how they are travelling in their programs and to hear their thoughts and ideas for both next year and beyond. This is the beginning of their planning stage and most of our students already have great ideas and goals in mind, be they tertiary aspirations or moving towards a trade and apprenticeship. We will be locking in our subject decisions for Year 12 towards the end of July (next term) to assist the school with planning, timetabling and staffing. However, the students know that there is still time after that to make changes where necessary.
Similarly, in Year 10, we are beginning our subject discussions and reminding students of the expectations when it comes to their completion of work and homework, including the upcoming exam period (Week 10). Year 10’s and their families will also be invited to attend a VCE subject information night towards the middle of Term 3 and will also be able to discuss their subject choices and program options with teachers at a Subject Expo, which will be held around the same time as the Information Evening. Please keep an eye on future Marian newsletters and the College social pages for further details early next term.
Finally good luck to all of our students completing their assessments and exams in the coming weeks. It is a very busy time from Year 9 to 11 and we are working to support the students with their busy schedules. We will be providing study tips and ideas in the coming weeks to ensure they are able to achieve their best across all subjects.
