Secondary Student Laptop Safety and Management
The ICT team would like to remind both students and parents that all students are provided with a computer bag when they receive their device at the beginning of year 7 or year 10. The bag is required to be used by students when they are transporting their device from classrooms, as well as to an from home. It is fine if you decide with your child to purchase a sleeve that they may find easier to use. If damage occurs to a laptop that is not being enclosed in a sleeve or bag during transport there is potential that the warranty will be void and the cost will be much more for a repair. Please help the school and your child to safely transport their device by reminding them to make use of a sleeve or computer bag.
Cyber Security Phishing is a common way that unscrupulous people attempt to act as someone you know or some organisation you trust to get your credentials. Around tax time there is a lot more phishing incidents. The Australian government has some good information that will help remind you about the types of phishing attempts you should watch out for.
The Australian Government Signals Division have a short quiz that you may be interested to take to refamiliarize yourself with being vigilant with how you might interact with phone, social media and email messages. You will find the quiz at the bottom of the page.
