How should we talk about Maths?
At St Peter’s Primary School the aim of Mathematics in Foundation - 6 is to enable students to appreciate Mathematics as an essential and relevant part of life and develop their ability to work mathematically.
We encourage positive attitudes towards learning by developing students’ understanding for applying Mathematics effectively to become proficient problem solvers and to value the place of Mathematics in society.
We aim to work closely with families to promote the best learning outcomes for all students.
Recently the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership in partnership with ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) released great resources to help us all better understand the connection between maths and emotional wellbeing.
This article is a great reflection on how we perceive maths and how we talk about maths with our children.
