Message from the Principal
St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.
Dear Families,
Welcome to the fifth week of Term Two.
Last week, our Year 3/4L students led a heartwarming Mother's Day liturgy for our school community. We celebrated the incredible women of St Peter's, expressing our thanks to all the mother figures who play an integral role in shaping our children into the people we aspire them to be.
Reflecting on the love of Mary, our mother figure in faith, we found inspiration in her strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion:
Dear God,
We thank you for the love and guidance of mothers and mother figures in our lives, like Mary, our mother, who nurtured Jesus with love and care. Bless them with strength, joy, and peace. Guide them in their journey of nurturing and caring for their families. May they feel appreciated and cherished every day.
Amen.
F-2 Monash Clayton Library Visits
Last week, our Foundation, Year 1, and Year 2 students had a fantastic time at Monash Clayton Library. They browsed books, listened to stories, and got creative with arts and crafts. It's crucial for children to read or be read to regularly, and equally vital for them to see us adults reading books. What a wonderful opportunity to visit your local library and pick up a book!
3-4 Melbourne Aquarium Excursion
Last week, our Year 3 and 4 students travelled by train to the Melbourne Aquarium as part of their inquiry unit. There, they encountered stingrays, sharks, and an astonishing 60-year-old saltwater crocodile! We look forward to their writing projects, showing what they've learned from this experience.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Every student, staff member, and member of the school community has the right to feel safe and happy at St Peter's School. Last term, we surveyed our school community to identify our top four values and what we stand for at St Peter's: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, and Safety. Last week, we began to delve into our school matrix with our students, emphasising that everyone has the right to learn to the best of their ability and to have positive, respectful relationships at our school. These are integrated into every aspect of our school life. We will not tolerate behaviours that contradict our core beliefs and values. Please take the time to review this matrix and engage in a discussion with your children.
Lady Northcote Discovery Camp - Next Week
A few more sleeps remain until our Lady Northcote Discovery Camp! Our Year 5/6 teachers are finalising preparations to ensure that the camp is safe and enjoyable for all. A warm thanks to our dedicated staff, who are giving up time with their own families to ensure a fantastic experience for the students. We are looking forward to hearing all about their adventures.
Plastic Packaging
Lately, our Year 6 Sustainability Leaders have noticed an increase in plastic rubbish on the oval and are working on ways to make our school cleaner. In the meantime, we kindly ask for your help in reducing plastic waste by minimising the use of plastic packaging for your child's recess and lunch. Storing your child's lunch in non-single-use plastics would be especially helpful in our play areas. Every small effort counts towards a cleaner environment!
A Sizzling Success!
What an incredible day! I'm delighted to share that our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle was a huge success, raising over $3,000 for our school. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who dedicated their time on a beautiful Saturday morning/afternoon to support our school. Your contributions made a difference, and we are truly grateful.
We warmly welcome a new family to our St Peter's community, the Kazmi family, who have joined us in the Year 1 class.
Enjoy the rest of your week,
