CAREERS EXPO & YEAR 10 INFORMATION SESSION
On Wednesday 22nd May, Brighton Secondary College held a Careers Expo afternoon for Years 10 -12 students. Students had access 15 post- secondary institutions to seek information and advice on courses and their career pathway plans. It was very pleasing to see so many students and their parents attend the two events.
Many thanks to all the institutional representatives whose attendance made this event possible and a great success.
In attendance were AIE, Australian Catholic University, Australian Defence Forces, Australian National University, Collarts, Deakin College, Deakin University, Holmesglen, St Kilda FC, Monash University, Photography Studies College, RMIT University, Richmond Institute of Sport, Swinburne University & Victoria University.
Following this event was the VCE/VCE(VM)/ IBDP Year 10 Parent Information session. Parents were presented with details on the structure and workings of the VCE & VCE(VM), the minimum requirements in obtaining the VCE & VCE(VM) qualification, the different types of assessments that exist across a variety of subjects, the meaning and the importance of obtaining an ‘S’ for each of the subjects studied and the attendance requirements. Information on the IBDP was also provided as another credential available to year 11 & 12 students. This is a rigorous academic program within a broad and balanced curriculum in local and global contexts. The IB Diploma Programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish intellectually, emotionally, physically and ethically.
