RINGWOOD DISTRICT CROSS-COUNTRY:

On Tuesday 14th May our POPS Cross Country team competed in the Ringwood District Cross Country Carnival at Quambee Reserve. Our District is made up of 8 eight schools from the local area and include state schools, catholic schools and private schools. Students competed against Holy Spirit PS, Warranwood PS, Tintern Grammar, Wonga Park PS, Ringwood North PS, Tinternvale PS, Sacred Heart PS and Dorset PS.

We had 60 students from Year 3 to 6 represent our school in the 6 different age groups (12/13 years boys and girls, 11 years boys and girls and 9/10 years boys and girls). The course started and finished on Quambee Reserve and took students up and over a very challenging (and steep) hill past 2 ovals and around the pony club and into an oval completing 1 lap and finally up and over the hill again to the finish line. 12/13 year olds and 11 year olds ran 2.7km while 9/10 year olds ran 2 kms. It was perfect running conditions and everyone enjoyed the sunshine and competitive spirit.

We had some fantastic results in all age groups and what an amazing effort by the following students who were placed in the top 12! Just a reminder there were 80 kids in each race.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the runners that competed at District. I am extremely proud of your achievements, determination, enthusiasm, commitment and mostly for your excellent behaviour and sports-person ship.

A huge thank-you to Mrs Yates (Sebastian Y) who was our parent helper and assisted on the course at one of the checkpoints. Also to the parents and grandparents who came along to support and encourage the POPS Cross Country team as well as to the parents who helped out with transportation. Lastly, I would like to thank Miss Munforte, Miss Grigg and Miss Dixon for assisting on the day.
