Christmas in July Food Drive

On Wednesday 31 July 2024, we are encouraging every Oxley student in both Junior and Senior schools to bring a non-perishable food item for our Christmas in July Food Drive. These items will be donated to CIRE Chirnside Park to assist in stocking their community pantry.

The community pantry is provided for those in need who might be experiencing a time of financial distress. It has been noted that this pantry is being used more regularly, and the need for extra help has risen.

At Oxley, we seek to demonstrate the love of Christ through action and to teach the principles of ‘loving our neighbour’ and ‘not looking only to our own interests’ as encouraged in Mark 12:31 and Philippians 2:3-4.

Suggested items for donation include baked beans, tuna, soups, bags of rice, pasta, noodles, cereals, or similar non-perishable food items.

On Wednesday July 31, students should bring their items to Home Group where it will be collected. This year, it is our hope that every student can bring two items.  Collectively, this would see the pantry fully stocked until Christmas in December. In 2023, we collected over 1000 items!

Thank you in advance for participating in this opportunity to generously bless our wider community in Jesus’ name.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 16:18
