Duke of Ed & Community Service

This semester, the Year 9 Duke of Ed class had the opportunity to gain their certificate in CPR. Students had to complete an online course before learning the practical skills of CPR. We learnt the sequence of DRS ABCD as well as the importance of the Chain of Survival and how to put someone in the recovery position. Students then had the chance to practice using CPR and a defibrillator on a test dummy. Thank you to Mrs Booth for your efforts in educating and teaching us on these important skills!

We also were able to serve our community by planting trees at the Pembroke Retarding Basin. We learnt the importance of flora and it’s role in preventing flooding, keeping rubbish and sediment out of waterways as well as providing homes and food to wildlife. As a group we planted over 1300 plants. It was fantastic to hear the students talk and enjoy nature as we improved our local areas.
