Chess Tournament
It was a pleasure to take the students to the New England Chess Tournament at Armidale City PS on Monday. Martin's Gully had nineteen students participate in this round robin competition. Students were placed in teams of four. For most of the students this was the first time they've been at such a tournament and the first time playing against students from other schools. Unfortunately, we didn't have any grand champions at the end of the day, but the students enjoyed themselves.
PSSA News
Yesterday, Charlotte, Bella and Lilly travelled to Tamworth for the North West Netball trials. Unfortunately, they didn't get selected in the team, but showed improvement throughout the day.
Last Thursday the Martin's Gully boys touch football team finished second at the knockout gala day going down to a very strong Walcha team in the final.
Today and tomorrow we have students attending the North West Soccer trials in Tamworth.
On Friday 14th June, our boy's soccer team will compete in the PSSA Knockout Gala Day at the Rologas fields.
Movie Day - Inside Out 2
Next Wednesday, students in Kindergarten and Stage 1 will have the opportunity to go to the movies to watch Inside Out 2. This movie goes into Riley's mind as he faces new emotions of joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust and ties in with both the You Can Do It curriculum and the PD/H units. A COMPASS permission will be sent out tomorrow.

Getting Along
This fortnight our focus continues to be on Getting Along and encouraging young people to make positive contributions to helping others and to making the school, home, and community safer, healthier, and good places to live and learn.
Persistence
We also continue to encourage our students to always keep trying to complete tasks and demonstrate motivation to always have a go.
Attendance Matters:
Kindergarten and Year 3 seem to be holding up their end of the bargain. Remember our target is 93.72%.
