News and Notices

From the Principal

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your kind words and thoughts, and all your support around my cancer diagnosis.

While I am saying thank yous, I would like to give a huge shout out to Derek for all the work that he does on maintaining our school pool. It is a lot of work and the children expect to be able to swim every day.

I would also like to thank Fiona Callen who applied for and received a grant from Pub Charities to cover the costs of activities and accommodation for camp. Vanessa Hawkes put up a Give-a-Little page that raised a substantial amount of money as well. We always welcome the help and support of our parent community.

Welcome

We have had a number of children start at RidgeView this term. So a special RidgeView welcome to Kobe, Wendalynn, Malei, Roannma, Elsie, Adley, Lataimalia, Lu'isa, and Bella.

Cross Country Run

Congratulations to everyone who took part in our run around the village. It was wonderful to see our children running up the road with a massive smile on their faces. Ted, Liam, Joey, Quinn, Lucy, Jaxon, Kingsley, Oliver and Bentley have qualified for the cross-country event at Coatesville if they wish to attend.

Wheels Day

Everybody's favourite police officer, Constable Louise , came to school and spoke to the children about helmets and other safety gear, and about following the rules of the road. We had numerous bursts of rain, but our children did really well riding around in-between the showers.

Pink Shirt Day

This Friday (17 May) is Pink Shirt Day. We encourage every child to wear something pink (t-shirt, bow, hat, sunglasses etc) - or red if you don't have pink and bring a gold coin to school to donate to the Pink Shirt Appeal. This is to show that RidgeView School does not support bullying of any kind.

Do you have any left over paint?

One of our Hapori Friday groups is working on painting the white walls and other areas. If you have any left over paint, we could probably use it! We are particularly looking for white paint to use as a base coat and then some bright colours.

Playing on school grounds after school

Just a reminder that while we love the community to make use of our facilities, we cannot have children joining in with After-school care. If your child wants to play at school before 4.15pm and is not in after-school care, then they will need a parent to accompany them as it is not fair to expect Mel to be responsible for them all.

Camp and EOTC

Camp for Years 4 - 6 and EOTC for Year 1 -3 will take place on 29, 30 and 31 May. EOTC is part of the curriculum and is compulsory for all students. The staff has put a lot of time into making sure that this will be a fun three days for our children.
